Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Jambolan interacts with.

Animal research shows that jambolan seed and bark extracts can lower blood glucose levels. Theoretically, jambolan might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. This might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in some patients. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.

Here's the thing that makes this pair a little unusual. Jambolan may gently lower blood sugar, while dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) does the exact opposite. It's an emergency rescue medicine that tells your liver to dump stored sugar into your blood to pull you out of a severe low. So in theory, if jambolan is nudging your sugar down, it could blunt how well dasiglucagon brings you back up.

I'll be honest, this concern comes only from animal and lab studies, so the real-world effect in people is uncertain and likely small, especially with food amounts of the fruit. Still, since dasiglucagon is for emergencies, you don't want anything working against it. If you use concentrated jambolan supplements, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Dasiglucagon Injection Used For?

Brand name: Zegalogue

Zegalogue (dasiglucagon) is used to treat severe hypoglycemia — dangerously low blood sugar — in adults and children aged 6 years and older who have diabetes. It is a rescue medication meant to be used in emergencies when a person cannot eat or drink to raise their blood sugar on their own.

Zegalogue is available as a subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection and is given by a caregiver or the patient themselves as soon as severe hypoglycemia is recognized. Emergency medical help should be called immediately after using it.
