Diclofenac epolamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Jambolan interacts with.

There is some in vitro evidence that jambolan can inhibit CYP2C9. Theoretically, concomitant use of jambolan with CYP2C9 substrates may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.

Here's the gist: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear diclofenac. Jambolan, in early lab studies, seems to slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, diclofenac could hang around longer and build up, which can mean more of its usual NSAID side effects, things like stomach upset, heartburn, a higher chance of an ulcer or bleeding, fluid retention, or kidney strain.

Now, two important reassurances. First, this is only theoretical evidence from test tubes, not people. Second, Flector and Licart are patch and topical forms, so very little drug reaches your bloodstream, which makes a meaningful interaction even less likely. Eating the fruit is fine. Before using concentrated jambolan supplements, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.
