Torsemide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Jambolan interacts with.

There is some in vitro evidence that jambolan can inhibit CYP2C9. Theoretically, concomitant use of jambolan with CYP2C9 substrates may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.

Here's the short version: your body uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to help clear torsemide. Lab studies suggest jambolan may slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more torsemide build up in your system, nudging its effects stronger. With a water pill like torsemide, that might show up as more urination, dizziness or lightheadedness (especially when standing), dehydration, or shifts in salts like potassium and sodium.

I want to be honest about the evidence though: this is only from test-tube and animal work, not real people, so it's theoretical. Eating the fruit as food is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated jambolan supplements are the bigger question mark. Before adding one, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Torsemide Used For?

Brand names: Demadex, Soaanz

Torsemide tablets are used to treat edema — excess fluid buildup causing swelling — associated with heart failure, renal disease, or hepatic disease. Removing that extra fluid can relieve swelling and make breathing easier.

Torsemide tablets are also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks. It can be used alone or alongside other blood pressure medications.
