Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Dapagliflozin
Dapagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Jambolan interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Jambolan (the seed and bark especially) may gently lower blood sugar on its own. Your dapagliflozin (Farxiga) is already working to bring your sugar down, so stacking the two could push your blood sugar lower than intended. That's the whole concern here, an additive effect, not one drug changing how the other is broken down.
I'll be honest about the evidence though: this is based on animal studies, so it's more theoretical than proven. Eating the fruit as food is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark. If you do try one, watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling lightheaded, and check your sugar more often. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.

About Jambolan
What is Jambolan?
- Blood sugar support
- Digestive upset and diarrhea
- Sore throat and mouth health
- Antimicrobial
- General antioxidant support
Jambolan (Syzygium cumini), also called Java plum or black plum, is a tropical fruit tree traditionally used for blood sugar and digestive complaints. Human evidence for these uses is limited and not strong, so it should not replace proven treatments like diabetes medication. The fruit is safe as food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
About Dapagliflozin
What Is Dapagliflozin Used For?
Brand name: Farxiga
Dapagliflozin is used for several serious conditions. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes (alongside diet and exercise). It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.
Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is additionally approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent visits due to heart failure in adults with heart failure — and to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, including reducing the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular death, in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of getting worse.
