Abrocitinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Jambolan interacts with.

There is some in vitro evidence that jambolan can inhibit CYP2C9. Theoretically, concomitant use of jambolan with CYP2C9 substrates may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.

Here's the gist: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to help clear abrocitinib (Cibinqo). In test-tube studies, jambolan appears to slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happens in real life, abrocitinib could linger in your system longer and build up, which may mean stronger effects and a higher chance of side effects like nausea, headache, acne, or a greater risk of infections since this drug calms the immune system.

Now, the honest part: this is based only on lab data, not on real people, so it's theoretical and may not amount to much. Eating the fruit as food is very unlikely to be an issue. Concentrated jambolan supplements are the bigger question mark, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

About Abrocitinib

What Is Abrocitinib Used For?

Brand name: Cibinqo

Cibinqo (abrocitinib) is used to treat moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It is specifically for people whose eczema has not been adequately controlled with other systemic (whole-body) treatments, including biologics, or when those treatments are not a safe option.

Cibinqo is not recommended to be used at the same time as other JAK inhibitors, biologic immunomodulators, or other immunosuppressants (medicines that reduce immune system activity).
