Here's the thing to know if you take metformin and are curious about jiaogulan: both can lower your blood sugar. Metformin works to bring glucose down, and some clinical research shows jiaogulan can do the same on its own. Stack them together and your blood sugar may dip lower than you expect.

This isn't a deal-breaker, and the evidence here is still on the lighter side, but it's worth respecting. Watch for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling confused. If you'd like to try jiaogulan, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can help you monitor your numbers and adjust if needed. Please don't change your metformin dose on your own.
