Mangosteen + Pravastatin Sodium
Pravastatin Sodium brand name: Pravachol.
We found no known interaction between Mangosteen and Pravastatin Sodium in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Mangosteen and Pravastatin Sodium
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Pravastatin Sodium and Mangosteen in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Pravastatin Sodium
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Pravastatin Sodium is filed under 6 classifications — including hmg-coa reductase inhibitors ("statins"), organic anion-transporting polypeptide substrates (oatp), organic anion transporter 1 (oat1) substrates. Mangosteen has documented interactions with 2 drug classes — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate) and donepezil (aricept) (minor) — and none of Pravastatin Sodium’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

About Mangosteen
What is Mangosteen?
- Antioxidant support
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Immune support
- Skin health
- General wellness
Mangosteen is a tropical fruit whose rind is rich in plant compounds called xanthones that act as antioxidants. While it is popular in juices and supplements for inflammation, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for these benefits is limited. It is likely fine as a food, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
Garcinia mangostana · Clusiaceae · Fruit, and especially the rind (pericarp) · Juice, capsules, tablets, powders, dried rind, extracts
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Mangosteen is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Mangosteen record says about it on its own.
Mangosteen: dosing
There is no standard, well-established dose for mangosteen supplements. Products vary widely in strength and form, from juices to capsules to powders. The best advice is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed the recommended amount.

About Pravastatin
What Is Pravastatin Used For?
Brand name: Pravachol
Pravastatin Sodium tablets are used alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet to treat high LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), high triglycerides (blood fats), and abnormal cholesterol levels. They are approved for adults and for children ages 8 and older with a hereditary form of high cholesterol called heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH).
In people without known heart disease, pravastatin helps reduce the risk of heart attack and cardiovascular death. In people who already have coronary heart disease (CHD), it is used to reduce the risk of heart attack, coronary death, stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), and procedures to restore blood flow to the heart — and to slow the buildup of plaque in the arteries.

Pravastatin Sodium Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Pravastatin Sodium as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Mangosteen — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
