Metoclopramide Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group N,n-dmpea interacts with.

In vitro research shows that N,N-DMPEA strongly inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 might increase the risk for adverse effects from these drugs.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the gist for metoclopramide (Gimoti): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear it out. The lab research on N,N-DMPEA suggests it can block that enzyme. If that blocking happens in people, metoclopramide could clear more slowly and build up, which may mean stronger effects and more side effects from this drug.

With metoclopramide, the side effects I'd watch for include restlessness, drowsiness, and uncontrolled muscle movements (twitching, stiffness, or repetitive motions). I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from test-tube data, not real human studies, and N,N-DMPEA itself is poorly researched. That's a lot of unknowns stacked together. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

What Is Metoclopramide Nasal Spray Used For?

Brand name: Gimoti

Gimoti (metoclopramide nasal spray) is approved for adults with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis — a condition where diabetes damages the nerves controlling stomach emptying, causing nausea, vomiting, and bloating. It works to relieve those symptoms by helping the stomach empty more normally.

Gimoti is not recommended for children, or for adults with moderate to severe kidney or liver disease. It is also not recommended for adults taking strong CYP2D6 inhibitor medications (certain antidepressants and other drugs that slow how the body breaks down metoclopramide).
