Here's the simple version: your Capozide (captopril plus hydrochlorothiazide) is already working hard to bring your blood pressure down. Some early, limited research hints that noni juice may nudge blood pressure a little lower on its own. Put the two together and there's a chance your readings could dip more than expected.

If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or wobbly when you stand up, maybe a bit tired or off-balance. I want to be honest with you though: this is based on weak, anecdotal evidence, not strong studies, so for most people it's a small theoretical concern rather than a clear danger. If you'd like to try noni, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your blood pressure at home.

Theoretically, combining noni and ACE inhibitors might increase the risk of hyperkalemia.
Noni juice contains significant amounts of potassium, about 6 mEq/100 mL juice. This may increase the risk for hyperkalemia when used in conjunction with ACE inhibitors, which can also increase potassium levels.

Here's the practical concern with pairing noni juice and your Capozide (captopril plus hydrochlorothiazide): noni is surprisingly high in potassium, roughly 6 mEq for every 100 mL. The captopril side of your pill (an ACE inhibitor) already nudges your potassium levels upward. Stack the two together and you could push potassium too high, a state called hyperkalemia.

If potassium climbs too far, it can cause muscle weakness, tingling, or in rare cases an irregular heartbeat. The good news: this is mostly theoretical and based on anecdotal reports, and an occasional small glass is unlikely to be a problem for most people. Larger or daily supplement-strength amounts are where I'd be more cautious. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before making it a regular habit, especially if your kidneys aren't perfect.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
