ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Dapagliflozin
Dapagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: Padang cassia (a type of cinnamon) may gently nudge your blood sugar downward on its own. Some lower-quality studies hint at this, though the effect is modest and not guaranteed. Since Farxiga (dapagliflozin) already works to lower your blood sugar by pushing extra glucose out through your urine, stacking the two could add up. The likely result isn't a dangerous spike but the opposite, blood sugar dipping a little lower than expected.
In practice, sprinkling cinnamon on your oatmeal is no concern at all. The question really comes up with concentrated cinnamon capsules. If you go that route, keep an eye out for low-sugar signs like shakiness, sweating, or lightheadedness, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it. Cassia cinnamon also contains coumarin, which can stress the liver in large supplement doses.

- Adding flavor to food
- Digestive upset
- Blood sugar support
- Antimicrobial purposes
- Antioxidant support
Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.
