Fluvoxamine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Psilocybin interacts with.

Theoretically, combining psilocybin with serotonergic drugs might cause additive serotonergic effects.
Psilocybin has serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor agonist activity. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with psilocybin might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the concern with pairing these two. Fluvoxamine (Luvox) is an SSRI, so it raises serotonin levels in your brain to help with OCD and anxiety. Psilocybin gets turned into psilocin, which directly stimulates serotonin receptors. Stack those two serotonin effects together and, in theory, you could push serotonin activity too high.

When serotonin gets overloaded, you can get what's called serotonin syndrome: agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, confusion, and in severe cases something more dangerous. I'll be honest though, this is a theoretical caution based on how both work, and it hasn't actually been reported in people. Still, since psilocybin is unpredictable and not an approved or legal supplement, please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything with your fluvoxamine.

What Is Fluvoxamine Used For?

Brand name: Luvox

Both fluvoxamine maleate tablets and Fluvoxamine Maleate extended-release capsules are approved to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) — a condition marked by unwanted, recurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that cause significant distress or interfere with daily life.

Fluvoxamine maleate tablets are approved for adults and for children and adolescents ages 8 to 17. Fluvoxamine Maleate extended-release capsules are approved for adults with OCD; their use in pediatric patients naive to fluvoxamine requires special prescriber consideration regarding the lowest available dose.
