Psilocybin + Trimipramine
Trimipramine brand names: Surmontil, Trimip, Rhotrimine, Tripramine, Trimp.
Psilocybin has a moderate interaction with Trimipramine. Theoretically, combining psilocybin with serotonergic drugs might cause additive serotonergic effects.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
SEROTONERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Trimipramine
Trimipramine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Psilocybin interacts with.
Psilocybin has serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor agonist activity. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with psilocybin might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea: trimipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant that raises serotonin activity in your brain to help lift mood. Psilocybin (really its active form, psilocin) also stirs up serotonin signaling by acting on certain receptors. When two things both push serotonin in the same direction, the worry is they could add together and push it too far. That can lead to serotonin syndrome, with symptoms like agitation, a racing heart, shivering or muscle twitches, sweating, confusion, and in serious cases dangerously high body temperature.
I want to be honest about the evidence, though: this is a theoretical concern based on how both substances work, not something actually reported in people taking them together. Still, the combination isn't worth gambling on. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything new with trimipramine.

Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Trimipramine page
“If you take trimipramine (Surmontil), a tricyclic antidepressant, read this list carefully. Nine of the 139 supplements and herbs on file are rated major, and most touch the heart: several, grapefruit among them, can stretch the QT interval, the heart's electrical reset time, and raise the risk of a dangerous rhythm.”

About Psilocybin
What is Psilocybin?
- Depression
- Anxiety (including in serious illness)
- Substance use disorders
- Post-traumatic stress
- Spiritual or psychological exploration
Psilocybin is a powerful psychedelic compound found in certain mushrooms and is being studied for hard-to-treat depression, anxiety, and addiction, but it is still investigational and not an approved supplement. It is illegal in most places, can cause intense and unpredictable mental effects, and should never be used outside of a supervised clinical setting.
About Trimipramine
What Is Trimipramine Used For?
Brand names: Surmontil, Trimip, Rhotrimine, Tripramine, Trimp
Trimipramine capsules are used to relieve the symptoms of depression. Both supported products (Trimipramine and Trimipramine Maleate oral capsules) carry this same use.
Depression with an “endogenous” pattern is more likely to improve than other depressive states. In the label’s studies, it worked about as well as amitriptyline in less-depressed outpatients, but somewhat less well in more severely depressed ones. In hospitalized patients, it worked about as well as imipramine.

Trimipramine Is Linked to Lower Levels of 3 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Trimipramine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Psilocybin — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
