Quetiapine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Psilocybin interacts with.

Theoretically, combining psilocybin with serotonergic drugs might cause additive serotonergic effects.
Psilocybin has serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor agonist activity. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with psilocybin might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the idea behind this one: psilocybin works by stimulating serotonin receptors in the brain, and quetiapine (Seroquel) also touches the serotonin system as part of how it treats schizophrenia and bipolar mood swings. Stack two things that nudge serotonin in the same direction and, in theory, you could get too much serotonin activity at once. That can show up as agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, tremor, or confusion, which is what we worry about with serotonin syndrome.

I want to be honest with you, though: this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds work, not something that has actually been reported in people taking them together. Even so, psilocybin is unpredictable and not legal or approved. Please don't mix anything with your quetiapine without first talking to your doctor or pharmacist.

About Quetiapine

What Is Quetiapine Used For?

Brand names: Seroquel, Dopaquel

Quetiapine treats schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (including manic or mixed episodes and depressive episodes) in adults and, for some uses, in children and adolescents as young as 10. It can be used alone or alongside other mood stabilizers such as lithium or divalproex.

The extended-release form (including Seroquel XR and generic extended-release products) is also approved as add-on therapy for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults who are already taking an antidepressant. The regular tablet form (including Seroquel and generic tablets) is not approved for MDD.
