Here's the thing to know if you're taking diethylpropion (Tenuate) for weight loss: it's a stimulant, chemically related to amphetamines, and it already revs up your nervous system. Psilocybin also stirs up the brain through serotonin pathways. So putting the two together could stack their stimulating effects on top of each other.

In practice, that might mean a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, more jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or feeling restless and overheated. I want to be honest, though: this concern is theoretical, based on how both substances behave rather than on solid studies in people. Beyond that, psilocybin isn't a legal or approved supplement. Please don't combine these without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.

What Is Diethylpropion Used For?

Brand names: Radtue, Tenuate, Durad, Tenuate Dosepan

Diethylpropion is used to help manage exogenous obesity (excess body weight from outside factors like diet) in adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher who haven't lost enough weight through diet and exercise alone. It is meant to be used for only a few weeks as part of a calorie-restricted diet plan.

All available tablet products — both the immediate-release tablets and the extended-release tablets — are approved for this purpose. Each is approved for use as a single medication only; combining diethylpropion with any other weight-loss drug is not allowed.
