methylphenidate transdermal system falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Psilocybin interacts with.
Psilocybin has serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor agonist activity. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with psilocybin might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: the Daytrana patch delivers methylphenidate, a stimulant that nudges up brain chemicals like dopamine and norepinephrine, and it also touches serotonin a bit. Psilocybin works on serotonin receptors too. The concern is that stacking these two could add up and raise the risk of too much serotonin activity. In rare cases that can lead to serotonin syndrome, with things like agitation, a racing heart, high blood pressure, sweating, shaking, or confusion.
I want to be honest about the evidence here. This is a theoretical worry based on how the two work, not something actually reported in people. Still, psilocybin is unpredictable and illegal in most places. Please don't change your patch use on your own, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything with it.

With psilocybin's intense and unpredictable mental effects, that overlap could feel a lot stronger or harder to handle.
To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how the two work in the brain, not on solid studies. Keep in mind psilocybin is still investigational and illegal in most places. Methylphenidate Transdermal System — available as Daytrana and Methylphenidate Transdermal System — is approved to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in pediatric patients ages 6 to 17 years.
It is not recommended for children under 6, because younger patients had higher drug exposure in the body and a higher rate of side effects such as weight loss compared to older children at the same dose.
