Sida cordifolia contains ephedrine. Drugs with CNS stimulant properties, such as phenylpropanolamine, pseudoephedrine, and diethylpropion, and many others can increase the risk of hypertension and adverse cardiovascular effects when taken with ephedrine.

Here's the thing to watch with the Daytrana patch: it's already a stimulant that nudges your heart rate and blood pressure up. Sida cordifolia naturally contains ephedrine, which is also a stimulant. Stack two stimulants together and you may be piling on the same effects, so the worry is a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or chest discomfort.

To be fair, this concern is theoretical, based on how these ingredients work rather than on solid studies of this exact combo. But because the cardiovascular risk is taken seriously, I'd play it safe and not pair them without checking first. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Sida cordifolia (or any ephedra-type product) to your methylphenidate.

Methylphenidate Transdermal System — available as Daytrana and Methylphenidate Transdermal System — is approved to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in pediatric patients ages 6 to 17 years.

It is not recommended for children under 6, because younger patients had higher drug exposure in the body and a higher rate of side effects such as weight loss compared to older children at the same dose.
