Here's the thing about pairing Sida cordifolia with bromocriptine (Parlodel). Sida cordifolia naturally contains ephedrine, a stimulant that tightens blood vessels and can push your blood pressure up. Bromocriptine is an ergot-type medicine, and ergot drugs can do the same thing. Stack the two together and those effects can add up, so your blood pressure may climb higher than either would cause alone.

In real life, that could mean headaches, a pounding or racing heart, anxiety, or feeling flushed, and rarely a dangerous spike in pressure. This concern is partly theoretical and rated moderate, but it makes sense given how both work. I'd avoid this combo and check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

What Is Bromocriptine Used For?

Brand name: Parlodel

Bromocriptine mesylate tablets and capsules (sold as Parlodel and generics) treat conditions caused by too much prolactin in the blood — including missed periods, unwanted breast milk production, infertility, and hypogonadism (low sex-hormone function). They are also used for prolactin-secreting pituitary tumors (adenomas), acromegaly (excess growth hormone), and the signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease, often alongside levodopa.

Cycloset — a specific bromocriptine tablet formulation — is separately approved as an add-on to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Cycloset should not be used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
