Here's the thing about Sida cordifolia: it naturally contains ephedrine, a stimulant that can actually push your blood sugar up. Since metformin is working hard in the other direction (helping lower your blood sugar and improve how your body responds to insulin), these two can end up tugging against each other.

In plain terms, the ephedrine in this herb could blunt some of the benefit you're getting from metformin, so your numbers might run higher than expected. The evidence here is moderate and partly theoretical, so it isn't a guarantee, but it's a real concern, especially since this plant also strains the heart and blood pressure. I'd steer clear and let your pharmacist or doctor know before trying it.

What Is Metformin Used For?

Brand names: Glucophage, Metformin

Metformin — available as tablets, extended-release tablets, and an oral solution — is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus, always as part of a plan that includes diet and exercise.

Metformin hydrochloride tablets and the oral solution are approved for adults and children 10 years and older. Extended-release tablets (including Fortamet, Glumetza, and Metformin Hydrochloride Extended Release) are approved for adults only. Riomet (oral solution) is approved for adults and children 10 years and older.
