ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Ertugliflozin
Ertugliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Sida Cordifolia interacts with.
Sida cordifolia contains ephedrine. Clinical research shows that ephedrine can increase blood glucose levels.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair. Ertugliflozin (Steglatro) lowers your blood sugar by helping your kidneys flush extra glucose out in your urine. Sida cordifolia contains ephedrine, a stimulant that can actually push blood sugar up. So the worry isn't that ertugliflozin builds up or gets too strong, it's that the supplement may quietly work against it and make your numbers harder to control.
In plain terms, your Steglatro could seem like it's not doing its job as well, and you might see higher readings on your meter. This is based on weaker evidence and is partly theoretical, so don't panic. But since ephedrine also strains the heart and blood pressure, I'd genuinely steer clear of this one and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ertugliflozin page
“Ertugliflozin (Steglatro) works by making your kidneys flush out extra sugar, and nearly all 256 supplements on this page pull on that same lever, so this is a list to approach carefully rather than casually. Most entries either add to the glucose-lowering effect and raise the risk of a low, or, like niacin, push blood sugar the other…”

About Sida Cordifolia
What is Sida Cordifolia?
- Weight loss and energy
- Asthma and breathing problems
- Joint and muscle pain
- Fever and cough
- General fatigue or 'tonic'
Sida cordifolia (bala or country mallow) is a traditional Ayurvedic plant that naturally contains ephedrine, a powerful stimulant. Because of this, many supplements containing it have been banned or restricted, and it carries real risks to the heart and blood pressure. There is little reliable human evidence that it works, so most people should avoid it and talk with a pharmacist or doctor first.
