Here's the gist: Sida cordifolia naturally contains ephedrine, a stimulant that can push your blood sugar up. Insulin glargine (Basaglar, Semglee, Lusduna) does the opposite job, working steadily through the day and night to bring blood sugar down. So these two are basically pulling in opposite directions, and that's why this is flagged as a probable, moderate interaction.

In real life, this could mean your usual dose of glargine doesn't control your numbers as well as it should, so you might see higher readings than expected. The evidence here is fairly limited, but the concern is real because of the ephedrine. Please don't change your insulin on your own. If you're considering this supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep a close eye on your blood sugar.

What Is Insulin Glargine (rDNA origin) Injection Used For?

Brand names: Basaglar, Lusduna, Semglee

Insulin glargine is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, and in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is a long-acting insulin that works around the clock to help keep blood sugar levels stable.

Insulin glargine is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where the blood becomes acidic due to very high blood sugar).
