Frovatriptan falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Psilocybin interacts with.

Theoretically, combining psilocybin with serotonergic drugs might cause additive serotonergic effects.
Psilocybin has serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor agonist activity. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with psilocybin might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the concern with mixing these two. Frovatriptan (Frova) works on serotonin pathways to calm a migraine, and psilocybin turns into psilocin, which also stirs up serotonin activity in the brain. Stack two serotonin-boosting substances together and, in theory, you could nudge serotonin levels too high. That can lead to what's called serotonin syndrome, with symptoms like a racing heart, shivering, sweating, agitation, muscle twitching, or confusion.

I want to be honest with you: this warning is theoretical, based on how both substances behave, and it hasn't actually been reported in people. Still, it's worth taking seriously since psilocybin's effects are intense and unpredictable. Please don't change how you take your Frova on your own. Talk it through with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Frovatriptan Used For?

Brand name: Frova

Frovatriptan succinate tablets are used to treat a migraine headache once it has already started — with or without aura (visual or sensory symptoms that can precede a migraine). It is approved for adults only.

It is not used to prevent migraines from happening in the first place, and it has not been proven effective for cluster headaches. A clear diagnosis of migraine should be established before use.
