Entrectinib falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Red Yeast Rice interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the risk of liver damage.
Red yeast rice contains varying levels of the drug lovastatin. Lovastatin can cause liver damage in some people. Some clinical research suggests that supplements containing red yeast rice might increase liver enzyme levels in some, but not all, participants. Cases of acute hepatitis have been associated with red yeast rice. Combining it with hepatotoxic drugs might further increase this risk.

Here's the simple version: both red yeast rice and entrectinib (Rozlytrek) can each be tough on your liver. Red yeast rice naturally contains lovastatin, a statin that occasionally raises liver enzymes or, rarely, causes liver inflammation. Entrectinib can do the same thing on its own, so your cancer team already watches your liver labs closely while you're on it. Stacking the two could theoretically add to that stress.

I want to be honest that this concern is theoretical, based on how these products work rather than proven cases of the combination. Still, with a cancer medicine like this, I wouldn't add red yeast rice without a green light. Please check with your oncologist or pharmacist first, and tell them about any yellowing skin, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness.

What Is Entrectinib Used For?

Brand name: Rozlytrek

Rozlytrek (entrectinib) is used to treat adult patients with ROS1-positive metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as confirmed by an FDA-approved test. It is also approved for adult and pediatric patients older than 1 month of age who have solid tumors — any cancer type — that carry an NTRK gene fusion detected by an FDA-approved test, provided the tumor has no known acquired resistance mutation, is metastatic or cannot be surgically removed without severe harm, and has progressed after prior treatment or has no satisfactory alternative therapy.

The NTRK gene fusion approval in solid tumors was granted under accelerated approval, meaning it is based on tumor response rates. Continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory clinical trials.
