Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
STIMULANT LAXATIVES
Why this applies to Psyllium , Senna (OTC drug)
Psyllium , Senna (OTC drug) falls under STIMULANT LAXATIVES — the group Sodium Bicarbonate interacts with.
Long-term use of stimulant laxatives, or acute use of high doses (e.g., in bowel-cleansing regimens), can result in potassium loss and hypokalemia. Orally, use of excessive sodium bicarbonate (such as intake of "tablespoons" of sodium bicarbonate daily or up to one box of baking soda weekly) has been associated with cases of hypokalemia. Furthermore, the most common complication of intravenous sodium bicarbonate is hypokalemia.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Your product Perdiem pairs psyllium (a bulk-forming fiber) with senna, which is a stimulant laxative. Senna works by nudging the bowel to move, and with long-term or heavy use it can flush out potassium along the way. Baking soda doesn't react with senna directly, but if you're taking a lot of it (think tablespoons daily or close to a box a week, not the occasional teaspoon for heartburn), it can also lower potassium. Stack the two and you could end up low on potassium, which may show up as muscle weakness, cramps, or feeling unusually tired.
This is a theoretical concern based on how each works, not something proven to happen at normal doses. Occasional, sensible use of both is unlikely to be an issue. If you use either one daily or in big amounts, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Psyllium , Senna (OTC drug) page
“Perdiem pairs psyllium fiber with senna, a stimulant laxative, and that senna half is why this list of 46 interacting supplements calls for genuine care. Twenty-nine entries are stimulant laxative herbs themselves; layering them on senna compounds fluid and potassium loss, and the strongest of them, jalap, is rated major.”

About Sodium Bicarbonate
What is Sodium Bicarbonate?
- Heartburn and indigestion (antacid)
- Athletic performance (exercise buffer)
- Urine alkalinization
- Soothing skin irritation or itching (topical baths)
- Mouth rinse and oral care
Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is a simple compound most often used as a fast-acting antacid and, in sports, as a buffer that may help with short, high-intensity exercise. It is generally safe in small, occasional doses, but it is high in sodium and can cause serious problems if overused, so people with heart, kidney, or blood pressure issues should be careful and check with a pharmacist or doctor.
