Eravacycline falls under TETRACYCLINE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Squill interacts with.

Tetracycline antibiotics appear to increase the gastrointestinal absorption of oral digoxin. Theoretically, concomitant use of tetracycline antibiotics might increase the absorption of the cardiac glycosides found in squill.

Here's the idea behind this one. Squill contains natural heart compounds (cardiac glycosides) that act a lot like the heart drug digoxin. Antibiotics in the tetracycline family, which includes eravacycline (Xerava), are thought to change the gut bacteria that normally break down some of these glycosides. The worry is that more of squill's active heart chemicals could get absorbed, pushing them toward toxic levels.

If that happened, you might see signs of glycoside overload: nausea, vomiting, confusion, vision changes, or an irregular or slowed heartbeat. I want to be honest though, this is theoretical and based on how the drugs behave, not on real cases with squill. Squill itself is potent and risky on its own, so please don't combine these without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.

Squill is a bulb plant that contains potent cardiac glycosides, which can affect the heart much like the drug digoxin. While it has a long history of use as a cough remedy and heart tonic, it can be dangerously toxic and there is little solid evidence for its modern use, so we do not recommend taking it without close medical supervision.

What Is Eravacycline Injection Used For?

Brand name: Xerava

Xerava (eravacycline) is used to treat complicated intra-abdominal infections (serious infections inside the abdomen, such as those following bowel problems or surgery) in adults 18 and older. It targets a range of bacterial types, including E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus species, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacteroides species, and several others identified by lab testing.

Xerava is not approved for complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI). It should only be used when a bacterial infection is proven or strongly suspected — using antibiotics unnecessarily contributes to antibiotic resistance.
