This product (Ascriptin) contains aspirin along with antacids that buffer your stomach. Aspirin already thins your blood by keeping platelets from clumping together. Tree turmeric, thanks to its berberine, may nudge things in the same direction. In lab and animal studies, berberine slowed platelet clumping too, so stacking the two could in theory raise your bleeding risk a bit.

To be clear, this is theoretical and based only on test-tube and animal research, not strong human studies, so there's no need to panic. Still, keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or stomach upset, since aspirin can irritate the gut. Before adding a berberine supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Aspirin Used For?

Aspirin is used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains from headaches, backaches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, the common cold, and minor arthritis pain. It also temporarily reduces fever.

Some coated aspirin tablet products note that, under a doctor's supervision, aspirin can help prevent another heart attack or stroke in adults who have already had one. Because of their delayed-release design, those coated products will not give fast relief for headaches or other symptoms needing quick relief.
