Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, taking turmeric with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research and case reports suggest that curcumin, a turmeric constituent, can reduce blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Furthermore, clinical research in adults with type 2 diabetes shows that taking curcumin 475 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking glyburide 5 mg decreased postprandial glucose levels for up to 24 hours when compared with glyburide alone, despite the lack of a significant pharmacokinetic interaction. Other clinical studies in patients with diabetes show that taking curcumin daily can reduce blood glucose levels when compared with placebo.

Here's the thing that makes this pairing a little unusual: dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) does the opposite of most diabetes medicines. It's a rescue shot you use during a severe low blood sugar emergency, and it works by telling your liver to dump stored sugar back into your blood to bring you up fast.

The concern on file is that concentrated turmeric (curcumin) supplements may gently lower blood sugar over time. That could, in theory, mean a slightly higher chance of dropping low in the first place, which is when you'd reach for dasiglucagon. It's unlikely to stop the rescue shot from working in the moment. The evidence here is modest, and normal cooking with turmeric shouldn't matter. If you take daily curcumin capsules, just mention it to your doctor or pharmacist.

Brand name: Zegalogue

Zegalogue is used to treat severe hypoglycemia — a dangerously low blood sugar episode — in adults and children aged 6 years and older who have diabetes. Severe hypoglycemia is a medical emergency that requires immediate action.

Zegalogue is not a day-to-day diabetes medicine. It is prescribed as an emergency kit to be on hand in case a person with diabetes becomes unresponsive or cannot safely swallow food or juice to raise their blood sugar.
