Turmeric + Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin brand name: Jardiance.
Turmeric has a moderate interaction with Empagliflozin. Theoretically, taking turmeric with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Turmeric interacts with.
Animal research and case reports suggest that curcumin, a turmeric constituent, can reduce blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Furthermore, clinical research in adults with type 2 diabetes shows that taking curcumin 475 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking glyburide 5 mg decreased postprandial glucose levels for up to 24 hours when compared with glyburide alone, despite the lack of a significant pharmacokinetic interaction. Other clinical studies in patients with diabetes show that taking curcumin daily can reduce blood glucose levels when compared with placebo.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Jardiance (empagliflozin): turmeric, mainly its curcumin, may have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect. So when you stack it on top of a medication already designed to bring your sugar down, the two could add up and push your levels a little lower than expected. This isn't about turmeric changing how your body processes empagliflozin, it's more that they may be working in the same direction.
In practice, watch for signs of low blood sugar, like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy. The evidence here is fairly limited and mostly theoretical, and a sprinkle of turmeric in your cooking is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated curcumin capsules are a different story. If you're considering them, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can help you keep an eye on your numbers.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Empagliflozin page
“Almost everything on this page can nudge blood sugar in someone taking empagliflozin (Jardiance) for type 2 diabetes, heart failure, or kidney protection, and two entries deserve genuine caution before anything else. About Turmeric
What is Turmeric?
- Joint pain and arthritis
- Inflammation
- Digestive upset
- Antioxidant support
- Skin conditions
Turmeric is a popular spice whose main active compounds, curcuminoids, are studied mostly for inflammation and joint pain. Some research is promising, but quality is mixed and curcumin is poorly absorbed on its own. For most people, dietary amounts are safe, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated supplements, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or have a medical condition.
About Empagliflozin
What Is Empagliflozin Used For?
Brand name: Jardiance
Jardiance (empagliflozin) tablets are approved for several important uses in adults. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in adults with heart failure. It also slows the progression of chronic kidney disease by reducing the risk of serious kidney decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization. In adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, Jardiance reduces the risk of cardiovascular death.
Jardiance is also used — alongside diet and exercise — to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes in adults and children aged 10 and older. It is not recommended for blood sugar control in type 1 diabetes (it may raise the risk of a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis) or in type 2 diabetes patients with severely reduced kidney function.

Empagliflozin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Empagliflozin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Turmeric — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
