Vinpocetine + Naproxen, Sumatriptan
Naproxen, Sumatriptan brand name: Treximet.
Naproxen, Sumatriptan falls into 2 drug categories that Vinpocetine can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, vinpocetine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Vinpocetine interacts with whole categories of medication. Naproxen, Sumatriptan falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Vinpocetine in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Naproxen, Sumatriptan
Naproxen, Sumatriptan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.
In vitro research shows that vinpocetine weakly inhibits CYP2C9. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Treximet combines naproxen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever) with sumatriptan (a migraine medicine). The naproxen part is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In test-tube studies, vinpocetine appears to weakly block that enzyme, which could in theory let naproxen build up a bit more than usual.
If that happened, you might notice more of naproxen's typical side effects, like stomach upset, heartburn, or a higher risk of stomach irritation. I want to be clear though: this is only lab-dish data and has not been seen in real people, so the concern is mostly theoretical. Still, it is worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you already have stomach issues. Don't change anything on your own.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
2 of 2Naproxen, Sumatriptan also falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS.
Clinical research shows that vinpocetine decreases red blood cell aggregation, as well as plasma and whole blood viscosity. This effect has been seen with intravenous vinpocetine 1 mg/kg and oral vinpocetine 30 mg daily. Vinpocetine also seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Treximet is a combo pill that pairs naproxen, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever, with sumatriptan for migraines. The piece that matters here is the naproxen. Like other NSAIDs, naproxen can already irritate the stomach lining and make it a little harder for your blood to clot.
Vinpocetine appears to have mild blood-thinning effects of its own, making platelets less sticky. Stacking the two could nudge up your risk of bleeding or bruising, things like stomach upset, dark or tarry stools, nosebleeds, or bruises that show up easily. The evidence is fairly limited and the risk is rated moderate, not severe, so this isn't cause for panic. Still, it's worth running past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you take Treximet often.
