Treprostinil (IV) falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.

Vinpocetine might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Clinical research shows that vinpocetine decreases red blood cell aggregation, as well as plasma and whole blood viscosity. This effect has been seen with intravenous vinpocetine 1 mg/kg and oral vinpocetine 30 mg daily. Vinpocetine also seems to have antiplatelet effects.

Here's something worth knowing about pairing these two. Treprostinil (Remodulin) is a prostacyclin-type medicine given through an IV to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. Besides relaxing blood vessels, it also has its own mild blood-thinning, antiplatelet action, meaning it makes platelets a little less sticky. Vinpocetine appears to do something similar, lowering blood thickness and reducing how platelets clump together.

So the concern isn't that vinpocetine changes how treprostinil is broken down. Rather, two blood-thinning effects stacked together may raise your bleeding risk a bit more than either alone. Watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop. The evidence here is modest, but please check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding vinpocetine.

About Treprostinil Injection

What Is Treprostinil Injection Used For?

Brand name: Remodulin

Treprostinil injection is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries that supply the lungs. It works to reduce the symptoms that make exercise difficult. Clinical studies included patients with moderate-to-severe PAH symptoms (NYHA Class II–IV) due to idiopathic or heritable PAH, PAH related to congenital heart defects, and PAH related to connective tissue diseases.

It is also used for PAH patients who need to transition off epoprostenol — a related medication — to slow the worsening of their condition during that switch. The risks and benefits of the transition should be carefully discussed with a specialist before starting.
