Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic by TN Trusted Nutrients
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This softgel contains 7 active probiotic ingredients—live bacterial strains meant to support your gut. The main ones we have data on are Bacillus subtilis, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium breve, plus L.
Rhamnosus and L. Plantarum.
The capsule itself is made of gelatin, and it also contains magnesium stearate and calcium carbonate as inactive ingredients (binders and flow agents).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed depending on the strain and what you're hoping it'll help with. Bacillus subtilis and Lactobacillus acidophilus both have some evidence—possibly effective—for antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
L. acidophilus also shows possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, and bacterial vaginosis. For most other uses listed—athletic performance, constipation, eczema, anxiety, asthma, hay fever—the evidence isn't established or isn't strong enough to rate in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotics in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. That said, safety data are limited overall.
Side effects reported in studies are uncommon but have included gastrointestinal discomfort (mild abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, and rarely diarrhea), headache, and in one trial, a rash. There's a rare but serious concern: in people who are critically ill, immunocompromised, or very young (especially preterm infants), live Bifidobacterium or Lactobacillus can occasionally cross into the bloodstream and cause infection.
For Bifidobacterium longum and breve, pregnancy is possibly safe; for L. acidophilus, pregnancy is possibly safe but data on breastfeeding aren't on file. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a serious illness or weak immune system, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the documented concern—Moderate severity. Because the bacteria in this product are living organisms, antibiotics taken at the same time can kill them and make the probiotic less effective.
Separate your doses and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about the timing that works best for you.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may help with antibiotic-associated diarrhea, IBS, or certain infections if you're a healthy adult. The main thing to watch is timing with antibiotics—they can interfere with each other.
If you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, or pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you take any prescription medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Probiotic by TN Trusted Nutrients Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
TN Trusted Nutrients Probiotic contains several bacterial strains—Bacillus subtilis, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Bifidobacterium breve—that all interact with antibiotic drugs (antibiotics).
The interaction is Moderate in severity: because these are live, active organisms, taking antibiotics at the same time might kill a significant number of them and reduce the probiotic's effectiveness. The key is timing—you'll want to separate when you take them.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
L. Rhamnosus and L.
Plantarum are also in this product, but we don't have interaction data on file for those ingredients, so we can't check them here.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Use the interaction checker on this page to look up your exact antibiotic before you start, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about spacing out the doses.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
