Probiotics Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by JayLab Pro
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotics against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy
Probiotics is a dietary supplement by JayLab Pro with 13 active ingredients. Its ingredients are commonly taken for digestive health and balance, diarrhea (including antibiotic-related), vaginal yeast and bacterial infections.Based on those ingredients, 182 medications have a known interaction with it, the most serious rated moderate. The ingredients most likely to interact are L. acidophilus, B. breve, B. longum. Use the checker below to test your specific medication, or read the full HelloPharmacist Interaction Report.

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotics by JayLab Pro
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
JayLab Pro contains 13 active probiotic strains — live bacteria meant to support digestive and immune health. The checked strains are L. acidophilus, B. breve, B. longum, B. bifidum, L. gasseri, and L. paracasei, B. animalis lactis, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus, L. salivarius, L. reuteri, L. fermentum, and B. animalis.
The product also contains inactive ingredients — cellulose and brown rice flour — which are binders and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these strains is mixed. L. acidophilus and B. bifidum are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
L. acidophilus is also possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. B. bifidum is possibly effective for respiratory tract infections.
For most other uses listed in our data — hay fever, anxiety, asthma, cognitive decline, and sepsis — the evidence is either insufficient or suggests the probiotics may be ineffective. Check with your doctor about whether this product matches what you're trying to address.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, caution is warranted: safety data are limited, and people who are very ill, immunocompromised, or have a weakened immune system should check with their doctor first.
Rare gastrointestinal side effects — bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea — have been reported. Very rarely, the live organisms can cause serious infections like bacteremia or sepsis, especially in critically ill or premature infants; this is a concern mainly in hospital settings.
L. acidophilus is possibly safe in pregnancy; data for L. paracasei, L. plantarum, B. animalis lactis, L. rhamnosus, L. salivarius, L. reuteri, L. fermentum, and B. animalis in pregnancy and lactation are not on file. For B. breve and L. gasseri, there isn't enough data to know if they're safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, separate them from this product by several hours. Antibiotics can kill the live bacteria in the capsule and reduce the probiotic's effectiveness.
Talk to your pharmacist about the best timing for your specific antibiotic and the probiotic dose.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend may help with IBS and a few other digestive concerns if you're otherwise healthy. The main thing to watch is timing it away from antibiotics — take them hours apart so the antibiotic doesn't kill the live cultures.
If you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, or pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your pharmacist or doctor whether it's right for you before you start.

Probiotics by JayLab Pro Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
JayLab Pro Probiotics contains live bacterial strains, several of which interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is Moderate: taking these probiotics at the same time as antibiotics may reduce how well the probiotics work, because antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the capsule.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
This applies to L. acidophilus, B. breve, B. longum, B. bifidum, and L. gasseri — all checked ingredients with documented antibiotic interactions. The effect is the same across all five: simultaneous dosing may lower probiotic effectiveness.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
To preserve the probiotics' benefit, separate your doses — take the antibiotic as prescribed, then start the probiotic at least a few hours apart, or ask your pharmacist for the best timing for your specific antibiotic. We could not check L. paracasei, L. plantarum, B. animalis lactis, L. rhamnosus, L. salivarius, L. reuteri, L. fermentum, or B. animalis for interactions; no data are on file for them.
Before you start, run your exact medications through the checker on this page.
