Raspberry Leaf Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Cedar Bear
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Raspberry Leaf against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Raspberry Leaf by Cedar Bear
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: red raspberry leaf. The liquid also includes two inactive ingredients—vegetable glycerine (USP Grade) and purified water—to deliver the herb in liquid form.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold on red raspberry leaf doesn't establish it as effective for the conditions tested—aging skin, heart and lung health, heart failure, or diabetes all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the research backing isn't there yet in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Red raspberry leaf is generally well tolerated by most adults, though safety data is limited. The most common side effects from the leaf itself are mild—diarrhea, upset stomach, and upper abdominal pain—but these don't happen often at typical doses.
Red raspberry fruit is well tolerated orally. One rare case of occupational asthma from inhaling raspberry powder was reported, but that's not a concern with this liquid product.
Red raspberry is rated Likely Safe or Possibly Safe in pregnancy, though safety isn't fully established—use it only with your doctor's or midwife's guidance if you're pregnant. There isn't enough data to know if it's safe while breastfeeding; talk with your healthcare provider about whether it's right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you're on blood thinners (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) or insulin. Red raspberry leaf may increase bleeding risk with anticoagulants and lower blood sugar with insulin—both are Moderate interactions worth discussing with your own healthcare provider.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Cedar Bear's Raspberry Leaf is a single-ingredient liquid that's generally well tolerated. If you take blood thinners or insulin, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it—the interactions aren't proven in real-world use, but the possibility is real enough to discuss.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Same advice: clear it with your healthcare provider first.

Raspberry Leaf by Cedar Bear Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Cedar Bear's Raspberry Leaf through its red raspberry content interacts with blood thinners (anticoagulants/antiplatelet drugs) and insulin.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners: laboratory research suggests red raspberry leaf may boost the antiplatelet effect and raise bleeding risk, though this hasn't been seen in actual patients yet.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With insulin, red raspberry leaf might lower your blood sugar on top of what insulin does. One case report describes a patient on insulin for gestational diabetes who developed low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) after drinking two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for three days—but this is a single report, not proof it will happen to everyone.
Altogether, these interactions span 135 individual medications. If you take blood thinners like warfarin, clopidogrel, or aspirin, or if you're on insulin or other diabetes medications, check your exact drugs with the search tool on this page before you start.

Raspberry
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Insulin
Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
