What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • “Proprietary Blend” is a proprietary blend — the label gives one combined amount (1.50 mL) without saying how much of each component you get.

This product contains one active ingredient: Red Raspberry leaf extract in a proprietary blend. The liquid also includes purified water and ethanol as inactive ingredients to deliver and preserve the formula.

Does it work?

Couldn't assess
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Red Raspberry product and its label doesn't state a use — see Red Raspberry's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for red raspberry isn't established yet in the data we hold. It's been studied for aging skin, heart and lung health, and blood sugar control, but the research doesn't support a clear rating for any of these uses.

That doesn't mean it won't help—it means we need better studies to know.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Red raspberry fruit is generally well tolerated by most people, though adverse effects data for the leaf is limited. Possible side effects include diarrhea, upset stomach, and upper abdominal pain, though these don't typically happen at normal doses.

There's also one reported case of occupational asthma from inhaling raspberry powder. Red raspberry is sometimes used late in pregnancy, but safety data isn't well established—only use it in pregnancy under your provider's guidance.

We don't have enough information to know whether it's safe while breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist about it first.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Red Raspberry.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 135 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check your medications before starting, especially if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, and others)—red raspberry may increase bleeding risk. Also double-check if you're on insulin or other diabetes medications, as red raspberry might lower your blood sugar.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Insulin

Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
