Sleepy Blend Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Sleepy Blend against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Sleepy Blend by Red Moon Herbs
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Sleepy Blend contains four herbal ingredients in fresh form: Skullcap, Wild Lettuce, Catnip, and Passionflower, blended together in a liquid base of alcohol and water. These are the active components; the product contains no other inactive ingredients or fillers beyond those two carriers.
Each of these herbs has been traditionally used to support relaxation and sleep, though the strength of evidence varies among them.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this blend is mixed. Passionflower is rated Possibly Effective for insomnia and pre-procedural anxiety — meaning some studies support it, but the data aren't conclusive.
For Skullcap, Catnip, and Wild Lettuce, we have insufficient evidence to rate their effectiveness at the conditions they're traditionally used for, including stress, anxiety, and sleep. That doesn't mean they don't work; it means the research we hold doesn't establish it one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Skullcap, Wild Lettuce, Catnip, and Passionflower are each generally well tolerated in short-term use, though human safety data are limited for all of them. The most common side effects across the blend are sedation, dizziness, digestive upset, headache, and vivid dreams.
Wild Lettuce at large doses can cause tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), dizziness, and respiratory depression. There is not enough safety data to know whether any of these ingredients are safe during pregnancy — the safety data advise against use.
The same applies to breastfeeding: we don't have enough information, so the guidance is to avoid it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any sedating medications (CNS depressants) like sleep aids, benzodiazepines, opioids, or tricyclic antidepressants, you'll want to check with your pharmacist before adding this product — all four ingredients can add to their effects. Wild Lettuce may also interact with anticholinergic drugs (medications that dry the mouth and slow digestion).
Catnip and lithium (a mood stabilizer) together may raise lithium levels. Additionally, Passionflower can affect how your body processes certain blood pressure, heart, cancer, and allergy medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Sleepy Blend is worth considering if you're looking for a herbal sleep or relaxation aid and you're not taking sedating medications or lithium. If you take any prescription drugs — especially sleep aids, benzodiazepines, pain medications, antidepressants, or mood stabilizers — check them against the medication tool on this page before you start.

Sleepy Blend by Red Moon Herbs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sleepy Blend by Red Moon Herbs contains four herbal ingredients, all of which interact with sedating medications (CNS depressants) — the product's most serious interaction.
Skullcap, Wild Lettuce, Catnip, and Passionflower can each add to the effects of drugs like benzodiazepines, sleep aids, and opioids, potentially causing excessive drowsiness, impaired thinking, or reduced alertness. This is a Moderate-severity concern.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Wild Lettuce also carries a Moderate interaction with anticholinergic drugs — medications that dry the mouth and slow digestion. Though wild lettuce appears to contain only very small amounts of anticholinergic compounds, large doses have caused related side effects in some people.
Catnip interacts with lithium (a mood stabilizer), theoretically raising lithium levels and requiring a dose adjustment. Additionally, Passionflower carries Minor interactions with certain blood pressure and heart medications (OATP substrates) and some cancer, transplant, and allergy drugs that the liver processes via CYP3A4 enzymes.
Alone among these four, no ingredient holds interaction data we could not check. Altogether, these interactions span 915 individual medications.
Before you start Sleepy Blend, use the medication checker on this page to look up any prescription or over-the-counter drugs you're taking.

For each ingredient in Sleepy Blend with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Passionflower, Fresh
Cns Depressants
Concomitant use of passion flower with sedative drugs might cause additive effects and side effects.
Research in animals and humans shows that passion flower has sedative effects which can be additive when used with sedative medications like lorazepam.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.
Organic Anion-Transporting Polypeptide Substrates (Oatp)
Theoretically, passion flower might reduce the bioavailability of OATP2B1 and OATP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that the passion flower constituents apigenin and vitexin inhibit OATP2B1 and OATP1A2. This inhibition may be dose-dependent. One specific high-flavonoid passion flower extract (Valverde) seems to inhibit OATP2B1 and OATP1A2, while another extract with a lower flavonoid concentration (Arkocaps) shows less potent inhibition. OATPs are responsible for the uptake of drugs and other compounds into the body; however, the specific activities of OATP2B1 and OATP1A2 are not well characterized.
Wild Lettuce, Fresh
Anticholinergic Drugs
Studies report varying evidence on whether or not wild lettuce contains hyoscyamine, an anticholinergic drug. If it does, it appears to be in very low amounts. Nevertheless, there have been case reports of individuals consuming large amounts of wild lettuce experiencing anticholinergic-related side effects, such as constipation, dry mouth, dizziness, and sweating. Therefore, if you are already taking a drug with anticholinergic effects, you should be cautious about combining it with wild lettuce as the risk of side effects may be increased.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs with sedative effects might cause additive therapeutic effects and adverse effects.
Skullcap, Fresh
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, skullcap can have additive effects when used with other CNS depressants.
Animal and clinical research suggests that skullcap can cause sedation and cognitive impairment.
Catnip, Fresh
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs with sedative properties may cause additive effects and side effects.
Clinical and animal research shows that catnip has sedative properties.
Lithium
Theoretically, catnip might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Catnip is thought to have diuretic properties which might reduce lithium excretion. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
