What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Super Citrimax against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Super Citrimax contains 2 active ingredients: chromium and garcinia cambogia fruit extract. Chromium is an essential mineral that plays a role in how your body manages blood sugar and uses nutrients.
Garcinia cambogia is a tropical fruit whose extract is rich in hydroxycitric acid (HCA), a compound that some research suggests may affect appetite and how your body handles fats and carbohydrates. The capsule is made from gelatin.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for chromium is strongest for chromium deficiency itself — it's rated likely effective for that. For type 2 diabetes and blood sugar control, chromium is rated possibly effective, meaning some research suggests it may help but the evidence isn't definitive.
For prediabetes, high blood pressure, and schizophrenia, the evidence isn't strong enough to support a benefit. For garcinia cambogia, the data we hold shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for athletic performance, fatty liver disease, high cholesterol, or weight management.
That means we don't yet have solid proof it works for those uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. Common side effects are rare but may include gastrointestinal upset, headaches, insomnia, irritability, and mood changes.
Very rare serious effects include kidney or liver damage, muscle breakdown, and low platelet counts. Chromium in small amounts from food or prenatal vitamins is generally considered acceptable, but extra supplement doses should be avoided unless your doctor recommends it, especially at higher doses or with long-term use.
Garcinia is generally well tolerated short-term, but rare reports of liver injury warrant caution. Common side effects include diarrhea, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, and nausea.
Serious but very rare effects include liver injury and failure, mania, pancreatitis, and heart muscle inflammation. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: there isn't enough safety data for garcinia — avoid it during pregnancy and lactation unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Super Citrimax, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take antidepressants or other serotonergic drugs — garcinia moderately interacts with them and has a case report of serotonin syndrome. Also check if you take blood sugar medications (antidiabetes drugs or insulin), blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, levothyroxine (thyroid hormone), NSAIDs, aspirin, or medications that stress the liver — all are documented interactions at moderate or minor severity.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Super Citrimax may be considered by someone with chromium deficiency or an interest in chromium's possible effects on blood sugar control, but it's not for everyone. If you take blood sugar medication, insulin, thyroid hormone, blood thinners, NSAIDs, antidepressants, or any medication that affects the liver, you need to check with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
The same goes if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Talk it over with your healthcare provider to make sure it's right for your situation.

Super Citrimax by Vitabase Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Super Citrimax by Vitabase contains chromium and garcinia cambogia fruit extract, both of which interact with medications.
The most serious documented interaction is between garcinia and serotonergic drugs (antidepressants and similar medications) — there's a case report of serotonin syndrome when garcinia was combined with escitalopram. Chromium and garcinia also interact with blood sugar medications, blood thinners, and other drug classes.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chromium moderately interacts with antidiabetes drugs and insulin — it may lower blood sugar levels further, raising the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). It also interacts with levothyroxine (thyroid hormone), which it may bind in your gut and reduce absorption by up to 17% in clinical studies; chromium can minorly increase absorption of NSAIDs and aspirin.
Garcinia's main active compound interacts with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (it may inhibit platelet function and increase bleeding risk) and with blood sugar medications (theoretically worsening low blood sugar risk). It also theoretically interacts with drugs that stress the liver.
Altogether, these interactions span 736 individual medications. If you take any prescription or over-the-counter medication — especially for blood sugar, thyroid function, blood clotting, or mood — check your exact drugs with the search tool on this page before starting Super Citrimax.

For each ingredient in Super Citrimax with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Garcinia cambogia fruit extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the main active ingredient in garcinia, might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
HCA inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. The inhibitory effect seems to be greater in platelets extracted from diabetic subjects than non-diabetic subjects.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the main active ingredient in garcinia, might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
HCA reduces fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels in animal models, theoretically by delaying glucose absorption. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.
There have been reports of acute hepatitis with elevated liver enzymes associated with garcinia, when taken alone or in combination with other ingredients. Case reports collected from the Drug Induced Liver Injury Network suggest this risk may be greater in people who carry the HLA B*35:01 allele.
Serotonergic Drugs
Theoretically, combining garcinia with other serotonergic drugs might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome.
In one report, a patient experienced serotonin syndrome after taking garcinia extract (60% hydroxycitric acid) 1000 mg daily in combination with escitalopram 20 mg, which had been taken for a year. The patient was switched to sertraline 50 mg daily and again experienced serotonin syndrome.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
