Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product's ingredients is mixed. Chlorella is possibly effective for pregnancy-related iron deficiency, but for brain tumors, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, depression, and fatigue, the evidence isn't solid enough to rate.
Red Beet is possibly effective for athletic performance and exercise-induced muscle soreness, but evidence on its effects for cholesterol levels, lung function, or cognitive function isn't established in our data. We have no effectiveness data on file for Ox Bile, Wheat Germ, or Tillandsia.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chlorella is generally well tolerated in the short term, though quality and purity vary between products. Common side effects include allergic reactions, abdominal cramping, constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, gas, nausea, photosensitivity, and discolored stools.
Serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, are rare. Gastrointestinal upset is most common during the first two weeks.
Red Beet is well tolerated when used short term; expect red or occasionally black stools, which isn't harmful. Rarely, large amounts can theoretically cause low calcium levels or kidney damage.

Double-check warfarin (Coumadin) and other blood thinners — chlorella can reduce how well they work. Photosensitizing drugs (medications that increase sun sensitivity) could have additive effects with chlorella.
Medications processed by CYP3A4 enzymes may build up to higher levels, and CYP1A2 substrates may work less well. Blood pressure medications could potentially have stronger effects.

Chlorella, one of the five actives, is the source of the most serious concern: it contains vitamin K, which can reduce how warfarin (a blood thinner) works. There's at least one case report of warfarin becoming less effective after someone started chlorella supplements.

Chlorella also has documented Moderate interactions with photosensitizing drugs — medications that make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Chlorella itself can cause photosensitivity, and using it alongside these drugs could add to that risk.
Red Beet, another active ingredient, interacts with two enzyme systems in your liver. It may raise levels of certain medications processed by CYP3A4 substrates (a Moderate concern), and theoretically lower the effect of CYP1A2 substrates (Minor).
Red Beet also contains nitrates, which could lower blood pressure when combined with antihypertensive drugs, though clinical evidence on this is mixed.

Red Beet
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that betanin, the major pigment in beet, competitively inhibits CYP3A4 in a dose-dependent manner similarly to strong CYP3A4 inhibitor ketoconazole.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Beet and beetroot contain nitrates, which can cause vasodilation, potentially leading to lower blood pressure. However, a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition using concentrated beetroot juice found no significant impact on blood pressure or heart rate in different age groups. Other small clinical studies suggest that while beet consumption might transiently lower blood pressure due to vessel dilation, there's no consistent evidence of a lasting effect. Overall, the theoretical risk of reduced blood pressure due to beet's nitrate content exists, but studies generally indicate a low and temporary impact rather than a sustained decrease.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that beet induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Chlorella
Photosensitizing Drugs
Theoretically, chlorella might have additive effects with photosensitizing drugs.
Chlorella has been reported to cause photosensitization. In five case reports, patients who had ingested chlorella exhibited swelling followed by erythematopurpuric lesions on sun-exposed areas of the body. Theoretically, concomitant use with photosensitizing drugs may exacerbate effects.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, chlorella might reduce the clinical effects of warfarin.
Chlorella contains significant amounts of vitamin K. There is at least one case report of warfarin therapy becoming sub-therapeutic after initiation of chlorella supplements.
Wheat Germ
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking wheatgrass with antidiabetes drugs might lower blood glucose levels and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research shows that taking wheatgrass stimulates the release of insulin from beta-cells and lowers blood glucose.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, wheatgrass might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that wheatgrass induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
