Ashwagandha + Sumatriptan
Sumatriptan brand name: Tosymra.
Ashwagandha has a minor interaction with Sumatriptan. Some animal studies have reported that ashwagandha can enhance serotonergic transmission by altering certain serotonin (5-HT) receptors.

Serotonergic Drugs
Why this applies to Sumatriptan
Sumatriptan falls under Serotonergic Drugs — the group Ashwagandha interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with these two: sumatriptan is a migraine medicine that works on serotonin pathways in your brain and blood vessels. Ashwagandha, in some animal research, seems to nudge those same serotonin signals a little. So the theory is that taking both could slightly add to serotonin activity in the body.
I want to keep this in perspective. The evidence here is weak and mostly from animal studies, and there are no real-world reports of problems when ashwagandha is combined with serotonin drugs like sumatriptan. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Just be aware of symptoms like agitation, fast heartbeat, sweating, shivering, or muscle twitching, which would be unusual but worth a call. Since both touch serotonin, it's smart to run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor first.
What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Sumatriptan page
“The supplement risk that matters most with sumatriptan (Tosymra) is serotonin overload. This migraine drug works through serotonin receptors, and 20 of the 50 interacting ingredients on file, 5-HTP among them, can push serotonin activity higher still, raising the risk of serotonin syndrome (agitation, racing heart, fever).”

Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic herb most often taken to help with stress, anxiety, and sleep, and some small studies suggest it may help, though the evidence is still limited. About Sumatriptan
What Is Sumatriptan Used For?
Brand name: Tosymra
Sumatriptan is used to stop a migraine headache once it starts — with or without aura (the visual or sensory warning signs some people get before a migraine). It is available as tablets, nasal sprays, nasal capsules, and subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injections for this purpose.
Sumatriptan subcutaneous injections (brands: Imitrex injection, Sumatriptan Injection, Sumatriptan Succinate Injection) are also approved to treat acute cluster headaches in adults. Sumatriptan is not used to prevent migraines or cluster headaches — it only treats attacks once they begin.
