Hydrochlorothiazide, Lisinopril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Betony interacts with.

Theoretically, betony might have additive effects with blood pressure lowering drugs due to hypotensive activity of the glycosides found in betony. It might also interfere with the activity of pressor drugs. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the simple version: your Zestoretic already lowers blood pressure two ways, with lisinopril relaxing your blood vessels and hydrochlorothiazide flushing out extra fluid. Some of the natural plant compounds in betony are thought to gently nudge blood pressure down too. So in theory, stacking them could push your readings a little lower than expected.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or shaky, especially when standing up quickly. I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical concern based on how betony might act, not on solid human studies. It may not amount to much. Still, since you're on a blood pressure medicine, it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or doctor before adding betony, and keep an eye on your home readings.

Lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets — sold as the brand Zestoretic and as the generic combination — are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack.

This is a fixed-dose combination product and is not intended as a first-line (initial) treatment for high blood pressure. It is typically prescribed for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on a single medication alone.
