This combination lowers blood pressure with a water pill plus an ACE inhibitor, and most interacting ingredients either drag pressure down too far or push back against the drug, while smaller groups strain the kidneys, drain potassium, or carry heart toxicity of their own. Even ordinary activated charcoal earns a major rating because it can keep the tablet from absorbing.
Calcium is another everyday one to watch, since the thiazide half holds calcium in the body and large doses risk a harmful buildup.
