Treprostinil (Inh) falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Betony interacts with.

Theoretically, betony might have additive effects with blood pressure lowering drugs due to hypotensive activity of the glycosides found in betony. It might also interfere with the activity of pressor drugs. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the gist for your inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso). This medicine works by relaxing blood vessels, so it naturally lowers pressure in the lungs and can nudge your overall blood pressure down too. Betony contains plant compounds that, in theory, may also have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect. Put the two together and you could, on paper, get a little more of a drop than expected.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, flushed, or unusually tired, especially when standing up quickly. I'll be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based on how betony behaves rather than real cases in people, so the actual risk looks low. Still, since treprostinil is serious medicine for a serious condition, please run betony past your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.

What Is Treprostinil Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Tyvaso

Treprostinil oral inhalation is used to treat two serious lung conditions that raise pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. It helps improve how much physical activity you can do.

Tyvaso inhalation solution and Tyvaso DPI are both indicated to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3). Clinical studies establishing effectiveness in PAH primarily included patients with moderate symptoms (NYHA Class III) whose PAH was idiopathic, heritable, or related to connective tissue disease. Studies in PH-ILD primarily included patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema, or connective tissue disease-related lung disease.
