Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing to know about Tarka: it contains verapamil, which can slow down how your body clears caffeine. Since black tea is a caffeine source, drinking a lot of it while on this medicine may let caffeine build up a bit more than usual (studies suggest roughly a 25% bump). That could mean feeling more jittery, a faster heartbeat, trouble sleeping, or a touch of restlessness.

I want to be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs behave, not strong real-world proof, and it's rated moderate. A cup or two of tea is unlikely to cause trouble for most folks. If you drink a lot of tea or notice your heart racing, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Trandolapril, Verapamil page

“This is one of the supplement lists I would want a patient to read closely, not skim. Tarka combines trandolapril and verapamil to lower blood pressure, and most of these interactions pull on that same lever, either dropping pressure further than intended or working against the medicine altogether.”

Black tea is a popular caffeinated drink made from the fully oxidized leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, and it contains caffeine and antioxidant plant compounds.
