Caffeine + Finafloxacin
Finafloxacin brand name: Xtoro.
Caffeine has a moderate interaction with Finafloxacin. Theoretically, quinolone antibiotics might increase the levels and adverse effects of caffeine.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Finafloxacin
Finafloxacin falls under QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Caffeine interacts with.
Quinolones (also called fluoroquinolones) can decrease caffeine clearance by inhibiting cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) enzyme.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to know about pairing your coffee or tea with Finafloxacin (Xtoro). Finafloxacin belongs to the quinolone family of antibiotics, and these drugs can slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is the same enzyme your body uses to clear caffeine. So the caffeine you drink may hang around longer and build up a bit more than usual.
In plain terms, that means your usual cup of coffee might hit harder. You could notice more jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge. One nice point: Xtoro is sold as ear drops, so very little reaches your bloodstream, and this whole concern is mostly theoretical. If you're taking a quinolone by mouth instead, just go easy on the caffeine and check with your pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Finafloxacin page
“The clearest snag on the supplement list for finafloxacin (Xtoro), a quinolone antibiotic ear drop for outer ear infections, is minerals. Calcium and iron can bind quinolone drugs in the gut and cut how much gets absorbed, so those doses belong hours apart.”

About Caffeine
What is Caffeine?
- Mental alertness and reducing fatigue
- Improving athletic performance
- Headache and migraine relief
- Boosting focus and concentration
- Weight loss aid
Caffeine is a natural stimulant found in coffee, tea, and many other plants and products. In moderate amounts it can boost alertness and reduce tiredness for most healthy adults, but too much can cause jitteriness, a racing heart, and sleep problems. Pregnant women and people with heart conditions or anxiety should be especially careful and check with a doctor or pharmacist.
