Here's the simple version. Tresiba (insulin degludec) is a long-acting insulin that lowers your blood sugar over the course of the day. The 'dream herb' Calea zacatechichi has shown some blood sugar lowering of its own, but only in animal studies. The worry is that the two together could push your sugar a little lower than expected, which is called hypoglycemia.

Honestly, this is a theoretical, low-grade concern, not a proven danger. Still, it's worth knowing the warning signs: shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, sudden hunger, or feeling dizzy or confused. If you'd like to try this herb, check your blood sugar a bit more often at first and have a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.

What Is Insulin Degludec (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tresiba

Insulin degludec (brands: Insulin Degludec, Tresiba) is indicated to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in patients 1 year of age and older with diabetes mellitus — both type 1 and type 2.

It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where acids build up in the blood). In patients with type 1 diabetes, it must be used together with a short-acting insulin.
