Cannabidiol may increase levels of drugs that are metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro and animal research shows that cannabidiol inhibits CYP3A4. In human studies and case reports, cannabidiol has been associated with an increase in plasma levels of the CYP3A4 substrates zonisamide, tacrolimus, everolimus, citalopram, midazolam, and methadone.

Hyzaar is a combo pill: losartan (an ARB) plus hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill). CBD can block an enzyme called CYP3A4, and losartan does pass through that enzyme. Here's the wrinkle, though: losartan is actually a prodrug. Part of it gets converted into a stronger active form, partly by CYP3A4 (along with CYP2C9). So in theory, blocking that enzyme could shift how much active drug you make, which may slightly change blood pressure control.

In real life this effect is usually small and not the strongest example of CBD's interactions. Still, it's worth watching for dizziness, lightheadedness, or blood pressure readings that drift off your usual range. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding CBD, and keep an eye on your home readings.

Your Hyzaar tablet combines two blood pressure medicines: losartan and hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill). Here's the part that matters with CBD. Losartan is cleared from your body by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9, and CBD can slow that enzyme down. In a good-quality study, a single large dose of CBD raised losartan blood levels by about 77 percent, so more of it sticks around.

In real life, that could mean a stronger blood-pressure-lowering effect than expected. Watch for things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, or feeling unusually tired. Food or trace amounts aren't the concern here; it's concentrated CBD supplements. Please don't change anything on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can guide you.
