Pretomanid falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Cesium interacts with.

Theoretically, taking cesium concomitantly with other drugs that prolong the QT interval may increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias and death.
Taking cesium can prolong the QT interval on electrocardiogram (ECG). In many cases, cesium-induced QT prolongation has led to serious adverse effects, including torsades de pointes, cardiac arrest, and death.

Here's the concern with this pairing. Pretomanid, which you take alongside bedaquiline and linezolid for drug-resistant TB, can already nudge the heart's electrical timing (something called the QT interval). Cesium does the same thing, and it has a frightening track record of triggering dangerous rhythm problems like torsades de pointes, cardiac arrest, and even death. Stacking two QT-prolongers together can multiply that risk.

Honestly, the bigger message is that cesium has no proven benefit and real, documented dangers on its own. This isn't a fringe theory I'd shrug off. Please don't combine it with your TB medicines, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using any supplement while on this regimen.

What is Cesium?

Cesium chloride is a mineral salt sold as an alternative cancer therapy ('high pH therapy'), but there is no reliable scientific evidence that it treats cancer or any other disease. It can cause dangerous heart rhythm problems and even death, so it should not be used. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any supplement, and never use cesium in place of proven medical care.

About Pretomanid

What Is Pretomanid Used For?

Brand name: Pretomanid

Pretomanid Tablet is used only as part of a three-drug combination regimen with bedaquiline and linezolid. It is approved for adults with pulmonary (lung) tuberculosis (TB) that has become resistant to multiple standard TB drugs — specifically those resistant to isoniazid, rifamycins, a fluoroquinolone, and a second-line injectable antibiotic.

It is also approved for adults with TB resistant to both isoniazid and rifampin who cannot tolerate standard therapy or whose TB has not responded to it. This approval is based on limited clinical data, and pretomanid is intended for a specific, narrow patient population only.
