Sparfloxacin falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Cesium interacts with.

Theoretically, taking cesium concomitantly with other drugs that prolong the QT interval may increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias and death.
Taking cesium can prolong the QT interval on electrocardiogram (ECG). In many cases, cesium-induced QT prolongation has led to serious adverse effects, including torsades de pointes, cardiac arrest, and death.

Here's the heart of the concern with this combo. Sparfloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that's already well known for stretching out the QT interval, which is the part of your heartbeat that controls how your heart's electrical system resets. Cesium can do the very same thing. Stack the two together and you may push that effect further than either one alone.

When the QT gets too long, the heart can slip into a dangerous rhythm called torsades de pointes, which can cause fainting, a racing or pounding heartbeat, or even cardiac arrest. I'd steer clear of cesium entirely, since it has no proven benefit and a real track record of causing this. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything with sparfloxacin.

What is Cesium?
