Interferon Gamma-1b falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyllin interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyllin with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. Orally, chlorophyll has also been associated with the development of pseudoporphyria in multiple case reports.

Here's the simple version: both chlorophyllin and Actimmune (interferon gamma-1b) can make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight. When you use them together, that sun sensitivity may stack up, so you could sunburn faster or get a rash on areas that catch the light. Interferon gamma-1b can also cause skin reactions and flu-like symptoms on its own, so adding a second light-sensitizer is just something to be mindful of.

I want to be honest that this concern is mostly theoretical. It's based on reports of chlorophyll causing light sensitivity, not on solid studies of these two together. So don't panic. Practical steps like sunscreen, a hat, and shade go a long way. Before you start chlorophyllin, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your skin.

What Is Interferon Gamma-1b Injection Used For?

Brand name: Actimmune

Actimmune (interferon gamma-1b) is approved for two specific inherited conditions. First, it reduces how often and how severely serious infections occur in people with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) — a rare inherited disorder where certain immune cells can't fight off infections properly.

Second, Actimmune is used to delay disease progression in patients with severe, malignant osteopetrosis (SMO) — a rare inherited bone disorder where bones become abnormally dense and the immune system doesn't work as it should.
