Here's the simple version: your Capozide already lowers blood pressure two ways. The captopril relaxes your blood vessels, and the hydrochlorothiazide pulls extra water and salt out through your urine. Coconut water seems to nudge blood pressure down a little on its own, so the worry is that the two together could push your numbers lower than intended. If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or wobbly when you stand up too fast.

One extra thing to know: coconut water is naturally high in potassium, and ACE inhibitors like captopril can also raise potassium. There's also a real catch here, this is theory based on how these things work, not strong proof. An occasional glass is unlikely to be a problem, but if you drink it daily, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if your kidneys aren't perfect.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
