This combination pill (Robaxisal C) pairs aspirin with two ingredients that already slow your nervous system down: codeine (an opioid pain reliever) and methocarbamol (a muscle relaxant). Both can make you drowsy on their own. The concern here is fairly simple. Corydalis yanhusuo may have mild sedating effects of its own, so stacking it on top could add to that drowsiness.

In real life, that might look like feeling extra sleepy, foggy, lightheaded, or slow to react. I'd be especially careful about driving or anything where you need to stay sharp. Keep in mind this is a theoretical caution based mostly on animal data, not strong human studies, so it's not a reason to panic. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the wrinkle with this combo product: the codeine part is a prodrug. Your body has to use an enzyme called CYP2D6 to turn codeine into morphine, which is what actually relieves pain. Corydalis (through a compound called berberine) may slow that same enzyme. So in theory, less codeine would get converted, meaning you could get weaker pain relief rather than stronger effects. The aspirin and methocarbamol pieces aren't really affected this way.

Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on lab work, not strong human studies, so it may not amount to much in real life. Still, if you're leaning on this for pain and it suddenly isn't working as well, mention the Corydalis to your pharmacist or doctor before making any changes.

The piece of this combo pill that matters here is the aspirin. Aspirin already thins your blood by making platelets less sticky, which is exactly how it helps prevent clots. Corydalis may do a little of the same thing on its own, so stacking the two could, in theory, nudge your bleeding risk up a bit. That can show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or a cut that takes longer to stop.

I want to be honest about the evidence though: this concern comes only from lab and animal studies, not from real human trials, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. The codeine and methocarbamol parts aren't really involved in this particular interaction. Before adding corydalis, please check in with your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you bleed easily or take other blood thinners.
