Atomoxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence show that berberine can inhibit CYP2D6. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP2D6.

Here's the simple version: your body clears atomoxetine (Strattera) mostly through a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Corydalis yanhusuo contains compounds (including berberine) that may slow that same enzyme down. If the enzyme works slower, atomoxetine can build up in your blood and hit harder than expected. Atomoxetine is not a prodrug, so this means stronger effects, not weaker ones.

In real terms, that could mean more side effects like a faster heartbeat, higher blood pressure, trouble sleeping, dry mouth, decreased appetite, or feeling jittery. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical, based on lab work rather than solid human studies, so it may not happen at all. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Atomoxetine Used For?

Brand name: Strattera

Atomoxetine — available as capsules (Atomoxetine, Atomoxetine Hydrochloride, Strattera) and as an oral solution (Atomoxetine Hydrochloride, Atoncy) — is approved for the treatment of ADHD in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older. It is meant to be part of a total treatment program that may also include psychological, educational, and social supports.

ADHD is diagnosed when persistent symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity cause meaningful problems in daily life — at school, at work, or at home — in more than one setting. Atomoxetine is not approved to treat major depressive disorder.
